Inspired by the poem, More Of This, Please, by Emily Sernaker. I pick my kid up from a mud puddle a moment after he’s fallen – before he utters “help”. Perhaps even before he’s realized he’s fallen. I set him right and he gets back to the important work of playing. He looks up at me with bright eyes and points to another puddle. It’s a silent request to splash. To get dirtier.
