Well, who knew?! I loved Brownies and Guides and did not know someone could purchase Badges!! Have fun with Scott and Orit, wish I could be there to cheer you on. Denise from Calgary.

My mother was a Guide leader and the idea was that your troop would purchase the earned badges for the deserving recipients out of the measly dues that we paid each week. However my mom frequently had to pay for them herself. As a single widow with 4 children, that was no mean feat.

I was a Brownie troop leader before I had kids. I sheltered them because it broke my heart too. They earned theirs and thought I had to prove they did. *Sigh* lying to protect the inevitable I suppose. It's all a MLM cookie scheme after all.

When I found out a few years ago that performers had to pay to be nominated for the Junos it let a lot of air out of my tires.
