21 good things
sometimes I just have to make a list…
1. A flock of birds catching the sunlight as they shift direction.
2. An unhurried meal to celebrate with my husband at a favourite restaurant.
3. A bath. Clean hair. Moisturized skin.
4. A fast food hamburger with onion rings after a good show with good crowd playing with Bryn, then having that feeling amplified with the silly joy of over-hearing him unknowingly place the exact same order as me.
5. Cranking “Swing Town” in the tour van and surprising my band by jumping out and dancing like a big weirdo in -30º C.
6. Remembering a photo that captures the exhilaration of wedding vows exchanged in my family church on a winter’s day.
7. My kid in a new haircut.
8. Discovering I score on the tippy-top end of a highly sensitive person test and being very ok with that.
9. The snap of LEGO.
10. My kid when he gets the giggles after reading that monsters only like drinking sour, green, dirty-underwear-smelling milk.
11. My favourite coffee enjoyed in the nest of my bed.
12. Sunday beers at Malty National with friends and family.
13. A new song.
14. A good hair day.
15. A good skin day. You know the ones.
16. An invite to play a music festival.
17. Clean sheets.
18. Fresh snow.
19. A job done.
20. A five dollar bouquet of tulips displayed in Grandma Laila’s vase.
21. My key in the lock after a lovely tour.

I have a long-held fantasy of working in a gas station. Washing windshields. Filling tanks. Selling bottled beverages and cigarettes and lottery tickets. Making coffee by the gallon. Cleaning floors and restrooms with gloves and probably a mask and plenty of distance.
I’d be adjacent to travel. Enabling it. Monitoring it through transactions.
My smile just got bigger and bigger as I read to the end of the list.❤️
